This has really been such an incredible summer so far: My cookbook came out, I found out that I am pregnant with my first child, Oprah invited me to give a talk on her first O Magazine cruise (!!!!), I got to do a talk with my food gal crush, Amanda Hesser – I mean, how lucky can one person be?! I feel very grateful and know that none of this would have been possible without all of your support and encouragement (except the pregnancy thing – that was me and my boyfriend ;)) I want to say very clearly and loudly:

To put a super beautiful cherry on top of this amazing summer, I will be leaving tomorrow to go on a big month-long adventure holiday with my family: Two big road trips through the Southwest/western United States, and a big 2-week trip down the Grand Canyon!** I have never been to the Grand Canyon, so I am beyond excited to spend so much time there and marvel at it for 2 whole weeks! Just imagine THE STARS AT NIGHT — OMG, I CAN’T WAIT. This will also be the last family holiday without me having a kid in tow, so a very special holiday in many ways! 🙂
I have lined up posts to publish while I am gone, but the flow will slow down a little bit. I am sure you are all off enjoying your friends and family this August too, so I don’t imagine you’ll miss me too much 😉 I hope you all have a wonderful August, full of wonderful meals and cocktails.
