French 75 Cocktail Drink Recipe - Drinks

French 75

This cocktail always makes me think of the old “L’Instant Taittinger” poster when I’m making it, so I like to serve this in a champagne or wine glass to set the mood.  (That doesn’t mean you need a high-end champagne like Taittinger! I usually look for a bottle that costs around $15.)  Despite the drink’s old-world aura, the lemon juice makes it taste fresh and summery, as will the floral and cucumber components of Hendrick’s gin.  Not all stores have orange bitters, but it’s worth trying to track it down for this drink.  And it’ll come in handy for other cocktails.

This is an old-school, classy cocktail.

– Yields one cocktail –

2 oz Gin (Hendrick’s is strongly recommended)
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
½ oz Simple syrup
Top with champagne
Dash of orange bitters

  1. Pour the ingredients into a glass in the order listed here and serve.  You can adjust the amount of champagne you use to top the drink to your taste.
